Century City has denied allegations that the complex, which includes Ratanga Junction, has been sold to make way for a huge housing project.
Hundreds of employees at the entertainment centre could lose their jobs if the gates should close.
A Sunday newspaper reported that Century City, which owns Ratanga Junction, has been sold and that a huge housing complex will be constructed in that area, as well as adjacent sites.
Ratanga Junction, which is open only a few months a year, has reportedly been struggling for quite a while.
Maggie Rowley, spokesperson for Century City, has emphasised that they are a private company who isn't obliged to divulge any information.
"As we speak neither Century City nor Ratanga Junction have been sold."
Rowley says the Nedcor banking group has indicated several times in the past that it will sell Century City when the time is right. |
